It is pretty common for transformers of DC-DC converters to have the primary wound with 5-10 turns compared to hundreds of turns in secondary. Howether, using couple mm in diameter wire for the primary is nonsense due to the skin-effect, so multiple strands of thin wire connected in parallel are used. The another approach I would like to try is a flat copper tape, but so far I have no success finding this product. It must be somewhere, I am sure - the flat copper tape is used as a shielding on tv's and computers' power supplies' transformers, being wound around and easily mentionable there. Obviously it is not long enough to be salvaged from here. In most cases it has a desired thickness. But searching the e-bay gave me only 0.0...mm thick foils which are too fragile to be wound (tested already - sucks).

So, any suggestions where one can buy a couple of meters of flat copper tape of 0.2-0.4mm in thickness and at least half inch in width?.. confused

One option is to buy copper tubing, dremel it in half and squash the halves flat in a vice. A quick google shows one 10mm copper tubing having a thickness of 0.7mm. I know one person made a power supply this way.

Copper flashing for roofing might be a bit thinner. 3m x 200mm copper strip on ebay with a thickness of 0.65 seems available. '16oz' copper flashing on another website works out to be about 0.55mm converting from the inch thickness.

The hardest solution one can imagine... Besides, copper under half mm can be simply cut with scissors.

But what about the copper for transformer shielding? Here is an application example:

Can't find similar copper tape anywhere. Anyone may know the source?.. frown

I was going to suggest a garden center; I think they sell copper strips for slug/snail repellent, since their slime causes the copper to produce a small charge, zapping them if they go on it.

But yeah.

You can get copper tape from the garden centres here, sold as slug repellent.
Its about an inch wide and sticks to nearly anything..

Howether, they deliver via UPS, and for Canada it is the worst possible choice - UPS here are scums keeping your package as hostage until you pay the driver a hidden ransom they officially call "brokerage fee". And if you refuse to pay this unexpected charge upon delivery, the package will go back to sender, so you don't have choice - pay half price of the package again to the UPS or get nothing at all. This is not a sender's fault - it is solely a UPS's fraudulence they practicing for parcels traveling through the country border, exploiting the cover up of customs clearance and taxes multiplying the charge from 10% to 50-100% of the cost of the parcels. FedEx and USPS do not do that at all, but for some reason, those services are not included in Nimrod Hall delivery options. Anyway, contacting customer support of Nimrod Hall I figured out that it is possible to ask for a regular mail, which I would definitely recommend to do - avoid UPS at all costs unless you want to double pay.
